I was born in Mandeville, Jamaica in 1983 and moved to West Yorkshire, England in 1988…just in time to start primary school, where I discovered my love of art and all things creative, from the age of 6 I have loved fashion and combined with my advanced illustration skills I knew what I wanted to do from a very young age.
At age 12 attended a performing arts high school and enjoyed the mix of art and performance, even though I was a shy child growing up, I excelled in all things creative.
By 16 I was studying GNVQ Advanced Art and Design and A-level Art before taking a two year course in B-TEC National Diploma In fashion and clothing at Leeds College of Art and Design then my BA Honors fashion degree.
Throughout my fashion degree I was able to take some mini course, knitting and crochet, corset making , fabric print and manipulation, jewelry and illustration were just some of the mini courses.
After graduation from university I wanted to work my on independent label straight away, travelling back and forth from London, I would make many trips into Harrods, Selfridges, Brows and Liberty’s and I would soon became familiar with the high end quality that is associated with luxury brands.
I started selling in craft fairs making purses, one off t-shirts and dresses then stocking small boutiques in and around Leeds and even took part in a program for new businesses in the Leeds Kirkgate Market called ‘How Bazaar’ after much positive feedback from this I knew I had a market for my designs.
The perfect opportunity came when I was asked to make a bespoke bridal gown for someone who now is a dear friend.
Bridal, bridal party, prom and many other special occasions is what I have specialised in over the last 9 years, I have worked with many brides and hope to work with more, it’s rewarding, to be the reason why a bride smiles on her big day or a 16 year old feels like a celebrity on their prom night is one of the main reasons why I love to do what I do.
